From Designing Entertainment Centers to Designing Toys: Why FUNCO Built Eduplay
Share
Eduplay didn't start as a toy company. It started inside FUNCO, a Dubai-based company that spends its days designing Family Entertainment Centers — arcades, laser tag arenas, soft play structures, and rides built to survive constant use by children in commercial venues.
What FEC design teaches you about durability
Equipment in a Family Entertainment Center gets used hundreds of times a day, by different children, with none of the gentler handling a toy gets in a single home. Engineering for that environment means over-building mounting hardware, testing mechanisms for repeated stress rather than occasional use, and designing for cleanability and safety at commercial scale. FUNCO has applied this approach across 150+ projects in 15+ countries, working with venue operators like Emaar and Majid Al Futtaim.
Where that shows up in Eduplay
That same standard — built for repeated, heavy use rather than occasional play — is why Eduplay's wall-mounted STEAM systems use reinforced mounting hardware, and why our busy boards use functioning hardware rather than simplified toy mechanisms. It's also the same reasoning behind supplying nurseries and learning centers, where equipment sees exactly the kind of high-frequency, multi-child use FUNCO already designs for.
Two product lines, one design philosophy
FUNCO's other product lines — Laser Tag Systems and Mini Bowling — are built to the same commercial-durability standard as Eduplay's wooden toys, just for a different setting. You can see FUNCO's full range at funcoworld.com.
